Two new works by Cornelia Konrads are featured at the Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire, in France. Passage and Intérieur en passant engage with their landscape setting.
The contemporary art trail at the Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire presents installations and exhibitions by fifteen visual artists and photographers in dialogue with their surroundings, exploring themes of nature and the landscape.
As part of the series, the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès is supporting the production of two new works commissioned from the German visual artist Cornelia Konrads.
Cornelia Konrads has created a series of archanean structures, specifically for the historic park. Graceful, aerial suspensions of branches and threads suggest a transition between two spaces, two worlds. Silent, fragile, momentary, Konrads’ works challenge our certainties and exert an enduring visual fascination. Konrads often works with materials collected in situ, creating spaces of transition and interrogation in multiple settings: public spaces, sculpture parks and private gardens. Of her work, she says: ‘I love the idea of showing how the invisible can be present in the visible world. I love to reawaken that sense of joy at the thought of new possibilities, of what might be.’
