Brainseeders’ threefold mission promotes autonomy through education, an ecological approach, and dynamic, sustainable, responsible development. To this end, Brainseeders operates by establishing learning communities which in turn establish and teach multiple new groups. Brainseeders’ work addresses the need for environmentally conscious training, through the establishment of creative and technical workshops promoting a holistic approach to development at the local level. Teaching at the workshops is rooted in the participants’ own experiences, helping them to develop a more long-term perspective, beyond the constraints of their everyday lives. Brainseeders’ training projects focus on water management, the development of housing concepts in response to the immediate local environment, regenerative agriculture, soil regeneration, and the production of seeds for horticulture etc. Fifty adults take part in the workshops each year. In addition, Brainseeders helps children of all ages, introducing them to the arts, and providing teaching and support for early literacy and schoolwork.

The Fondation d’entreprise Hermès supports Brainseeders as part of our wider commitment to promote artisan know-how and the subtle links between traditional local skills and the preservation of biodiversity.
